I was basically homeless and out
of work and with few places to turn to and even less people
to turn to. In December 2002, I was given a business card at an
AA meeting by someone I now consider a true friend. On this card
was the name Hope for Tomorrow and Jeff Gilbert. I called for an
appointment and met with Jeff. He explained what Hope for Tomorrow
had to offer and that it was available if I truly wanted recovery.
I moved in December 15, 2002 and started my new life.
Hope for Tomorrow has been a large part of my life for over 12 months now and
has given me a new found freedom. I have become gainfully employed and am working
towards moving forward in my life. I have formed friendships with residents (past & present)
that will last a lifetime. Becoming honest and open and accountable to the people
around me has made me a better person.
I cannot thank Hope for Tomorrow enough for the life it has given me. Without
places like Hope for Tomorrow, there would be few avenues for the chronic alcoholic
to go for help."

I took my last drink on July 3,
2003. Before that, I was a hapless, hopeless drunk with
no will to live. I picked myself up off a street, in downtown
Chicago, and got help. At first it was a hospital, then an alcohol
treatment center, and finally I made a call to Hope for Tomorrow.
I have been blessed with an opportunity that has changed my life.
Today, I am happy, joyous and free. Hope for Tomorrow is a big
part of getting my life headed in the right direction."

First I would like to say, I owe my life to Hope
for Tomorrow. Last year I was living in a garbage dumpster (literally)
- I mean who wanted to let a drunk into their little world but Hope for
Tomorrow welcomed me. Here I can re-focus and practice my values of sobriety.
If this was not available to me 6 months ago, I would either have been
in prison, 6 feet under - or who knows - maybe even in your home committing
a crime. A little love goes a long way to change a person's life and
Jeff and Hope for Tomorrow show that love. Today, I have a job, a life,
my family and most of all true sober friends. I encourage anyone to help
this program. It saved my life."
